After dressing up and looking all gorgeous, you step out of the house. You sit in the car and turn on the air conditioner. ”Oh no,” you think to yourself, ”My skin feels so dry.” Irrespective of the type of skin you have, every woman has dry skin problem these days. Our choice of sitting and sleeping in air-conditioned rooms have aggravated this problem.
When the skin fails to retains sufficient moisture, frequent bathing, aging, use of harsh soaps, weather conditions, medical conditions, and several other factors may result in itchiness and cracks in the skin.
Simple changes in your lifestyle can help you prevent your skin from cracking, itching, and looking dull. Aging can lead to thin and parched skin. Always moisturize. If you have oil skin, go for gel-based moisturizer. Avoid bathing in hot water. Always opt for cold showers or lukewarm bath. Really hot showers can dry out your skin. Don’t use a moisture-robbing soap. Mild soaps that clean and moisturize are better. And a healthy balanced diet make your skin supple and moist.
Even after following the above if your skin still feels dry, follow these home remedies to treat your skin. In no time you will have soft, supple and radiating skin.
1- Oil is good for your skin- Take three parts of olive oil, one part of castor oil, and mix well. Warm up this mixture and apply on your dry affected area. After nicely massaging the oil on your skin, take a wet warm towel and wrap it around the affected area. Wait till the oil is absorbed by your skin. This method is very effective, and can be applied 2-3 times a week.
2- Moisturizing Paste- Take brown sugar, olive oil, lemon juice and honey. Mix it well, and apply this paste to the affected area. Leave it on for some time and wash it off with lukewarm water. The sugar in the paste acts as a scrub, lemon juice acts as a cleanser, and olive oil and honey moisturize your skin. Repeat this method 2-3 times a week for flawless glowing skin.
3- The Classic Gram Flour Pack- Take two tablespoons of Gram Flour. Add a teaspoon of turmeric powder, a teaspoon of honey, and enough milk to make a paste. Squeeze a few drops of lemon in it, and mix well. Apply this paste on your face or your full body, dry it off, and then gently scrub it off from your face and body. This pack not only removes dirt from the pores of your skin, but always leaves your skin absolutely soft, supple and simply divine.
4- Milk & Honey- Mix two tablespoons of honey to a tablespoon of milk. Apply it on your face and neck and leave it for 15-20 minutes. Wash it off with cold or lukewarm water, and dab-dry your face and neck. Not only will your face look fresh, but you will have a pleasant glow on your skin too.
5- Olive Oil & Egg Yolk Mask- Olive oil and egg yolk make one of the best moisturizing face masks. While egg yolk is rich in vitamin A and prevents shredding of the skin, making it soft and smooth, vitamins E and K, and antioxidant properties of olive oil tighten the skin. Mix a teaspoon of olive oil in two egg yolks, whip it nicely for a smoother consistency, and apply it only your face. You may also add a few drops of rose water and lemon juice for better results. Leave this mask on for 15-20 minutes and wash it off with lukewarm water.
6- Banana & Yoghurt Mask- Mash half a banana and mix a tablespoon of yoghurt to it. Apply it on your face and neck and leave it for 20-25 minutes. Wash it off with lukewarm water and gently wipe your face. Not only does this mask moisturizes, but it also exfoliates your skin. Following this beauty regime every alternate day will save all your hard earned money that you have been spending on chemical cosmetics.
7- Avocado & Honey Pack- Avocado is a nutrient rich food. Rich in vitamins E and C, when avocado is mashed and mixed with 2-3 tablespoons of honey, and applied on the face, it naturally moisturizes the skin leaving it soft and smooth for a long time. If followed one to two times a week, you will soon start seeing the difference, and reverse the process of aging.
