It's A Bird. It's A Plane. No, That's A Surveillance Drone. | s1.reutersmedia.net_1 | Drones The SHEPHERD-MIL is designed to look like a native bird with the same flight performance. This UAV is characterized by the glide-ratio and noiseless motor that make it invisible, silent and unobtrusive in sensitive detection systems. The SHEPHERD-MIL was initially developed as a bird strike avoidance system, and is equipped with cameras and geolocation software. The system may be used for border surveillance missions, firefighting, and anti-drug trafficking operations amongst other, more obtrusive applications that require stealth information gathering.
With the increase of these types of UAS (Unmanned Aerial Systems) being built, the potential for unwanted loss of privacy is soon to be knocking at your backdoor…or gliding above you.
