Is it just me, or are there way too many ways scientists and government agencies are trying to read minds these days? In the article below, I suppose some “marginal level of comfort” can be derived from the statement saying that it was scientists from the University of Oregon who invented the new mind-reading system, however I stress the words “marginal comfort.” Why? Because there’s a certain entity within the Pentagon that’s quite (in)famous for developing terrifying Frankenstein-like robots, advanced weapons, and futuristic technology known by most people as DARPA, or the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.

Most of what comes out of the agency makes it seem like its sole purpose is to build a killer-robot army, but in reality DARPA has many, many other cutting edge technology projects as well. Furthermore, despite being part of the Pentagon, DARPA operates independently from the Defense Department’s military research division. DARPA personnel are divided into small groups, each with a singular issue the agency wants solved. Teams are then free to look for ideas to solve the problems both from within and outside the organization.

In other words, it’s not uncommon for work to be done on University campuses, so it’s anyone’s guess if the new mind reading invention is actually funded by the Department of Defense or not. Mind reading and mind control are far from a new area of interest to the United States government. Perhaps the most well know example is with Project MK Ultra. Wikipedia defines MK Ultra as:

Project MKUltra—sometimes referred to as the CIA’s mind control program—was the code name given to an illegal program of experiments on human subjects, designed and undertaken by the United States Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Experiments on humans were intended to identify and develop drugs and procedures to be used in interrogations and torture, in order to weaken the individual to force confessions through mind control.

Organized through the Scientific Intelligence Division of the CIA, the project coordinated with the Special Operations Division of the U.S. Army’s Chemical Corps. The program began in the early 1950s, was officially sanctioned in 1953, was reduced in scope in 1964, further curtailed in 1967 and officially halted in 1973.

The following video takes a look at 5 of the Most Shocking CIA Experiments of Project MKULTRA:

Perhaps now it’s more understandable why I’m skeptical of any mind reading device, whether it was allegedly invented by scientists from the University of Oregon or DARPA. Wikipedia continues:

The program engaged in many illegal activities, including the use of unwitting U.S. and Canadian citizens as its test subjects, which led to controversy regarding its legitimacy. MKUltra used numerous methodologies to manipulate people’s mental states and alter brain functions, including the surreptitious administration of drugs (especially LSD) and other chemicals, hypnosis, sensory deprivation, isolation, verbal and sexual abuse, as well as various forms of torture.

The scope of Project MKUltra was broad, with research undertaken at 80 institutions, including 44 colleges and universities, as well as hospitals, prisons, and pharmaceutical companies. The CIA operated through these institutions using front organizations, although sometimes top officials at these institutions were aware of the CIA’s involvement.

Aside from MKULTRA, another reason I don’t like the idea behind the new mind reading technology discussed below, is because I’ve covered this type of technology quite a bit. I closely follow news that involves Regina Dugan, the former Chief of the Department of Defense’s top secret research agency DARPA, and she’s always surrounded by questionable technologies. In 2012, the L.A. Times reported her move from DARPA to Google, as the new Head of Research & Development. Since Dugan’s tenure began, I’ve covered topics like: Why is Google creating manhunting machines, and her desire to get all of humanity to swallow ingestible RFID ID microchips that Google has developed, and the FDA has approved.

In the course of writing those posts, I learned that Dugan is also pushing for us to have an electronic tattoo that is capable of mind reading. YES, you read that right! Is it just me, or does anyone else take issue with the fact that the same authorities overseeing THIS crazy new technology, are the same authorities that have frequently lied by telling us that they’re not interested in snooping on our phone calls, texts, etc? In a video that can be seen HERE, Dugan unveils a super small, ingestible microchip that we can all be expected to swallow by 2017. You might want to also refer to: Prepare to be Microchipped. This is Not a “Request”

The video below talks more about the “mind reading tattoo” technology Dugan is so interested in. Naturally, like so many horrors that are invented, the need for mind reading technology is “spun” to sound as if it’s meant to “benefit society.” Dugan and her supporters say the mind reading capability could help people with mental problems, like for instance soldiers wanting to have bad memories erased from being on the battle field. Awe, isn’t that thoughtful of her? After you check out the video on the mind reading tattoo and the article below covering the new mind reading technology invented at the University of Oregon, be sure to check out the final video which helps explain my healthy skepticism. It deals with DARPA wanting to install EEG brain readers in every child’s classroom.

The Mind Unleashed reports:

In the climate of global surveillance that surrounds our daily lives, the only safe place we can hide in is our own head. They are watching us through the surveillance cameras while everything we write, say and do online no longer belongs to the field of privacy. Only our thoughts and memories can’t be accessible to other people. Guess what? Not anymore.

Scientists from the University of Oregon have invented a mind-reading system capable of reading people’s thoughts using brain scans and then project them on a screen.

The related study, which was published in The Journal of Neuroscience, involved 23 volunteers who were shown 1,000 color photos of random faces. During this session, their brains were connected to an MRI machine that monitored their neurological activity. So was an artificial intelligence program that was aimed to read the brain activity of the volunteers and capture a mathematical description of the shown faces.

In fact, this was the phase two of the experiment as the study had one more preceding phase that involved a training session for the mind-reading AI. Its purpose was to make the program memorize the correlation between certain patterns of brain activity and certain facial features.

In the phase two, with the help of the fMRI machine, the AI had to find what a face looked like based on the volunteers’ brain activity. Note that the faces shown to the participants were completely different in the two phases of the experiment.

The data used by the mind-reading system to reconstruct faces was based on the activity in two brain areas – the angular gyrus (ANG) and the occipitotemporal cortex (OTC). The ANG is responsible for spatial awareness, memory formation, number and language processing while the OTC’ function has to do with the processing of visual stimuli.

Check out the results of face reconstruction:

Well, the AI didn’t manage to reach very accurate results, did it? But before you get disappointed with this mind-reading tech, consider this. The researchers showed these reconstructed images to a different group of participants and asked them some general questions aimed to describe the faces, such as “Is this male or female?” “Is this person happy or sad?” etc. To the large extent, the responses were correct, which means that the AI did manage to capture the basic facial features.

As you see, this technology has a potential even though at the moment, the mind-reading system cannot provide accurate images of what people are thinking. However, it’s not the first experiment attempting to ‘hack’ the human mind and other research teams were quite successful at mind-reading of this kind too.

It seems that for now, our thoughts, memories and secrets are safe in our heads. So please, use the power of your beautiful mind while it’s still possible and legal…

Well, it’s good to know the University of Oregon’s new mind reading technology still has a ways to go, but unfortunately the Department of Defense is  already trying to patent theirs, and then put it in every child’s classroom. More on the patents after the video.

In the video below, TRUTHstreammedia explains that according to the benevolent and loving Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, “there is a great need for inexpensive and easy to use neural recording devices” aka a cheap EEG brain electrical activity recording smart app “to allow widespread use by schools and average citizens” because “having EEGs in every classroom in America would engage students in science and technology in a way not previously possible in the field of neuroscience…” and with it “students could record their own brain activity and download the data to their iPad” right there in the classroom! Cheek out the video:

As if the videos above aren’t frightening enough as stand alone, it helps to understand what the government is trying to do with the electronic mind reading technology Dugan favors, and currently has under development with patents pending. Yes, PATENTS pending, meaning this is not some far out future technology! It’s here and now.

In an article at LisaHaveNews.com titled, Top Secret Documents Expose Sickening Move By Big Brother—They’ll Literally Control Humanity Into Global Slavery, there is a ton of information and two videos (NOT TO BE MISSED), summarizing the latest in a long line of attempts by the Department of Defense (there they are again) to succeed with mind control. In a 90 page brief from The MITRE Corporation (Download the .pdf here), the document says the following:

“The most successful implementation of invasive interfaces [a direct communication pathway, done via surgery, between the brain and an external device] has occurred in medical applications in which nerve signals are used as the mechanism for information transfer. Adversarial actions using this approach to implement enhanced, specialized sensory functions could be possible in limited form now, and with developing capability in the future” – (Human Performance page 77)

They go on to admit the dangers of microchip implants

“…an extreme example would be remote guidance or control of a human being.” – (page 70)

NEED I SAY MORE ABOUT WHY I’M CONCERNED???

THE VOICE OF REASON is the pen name of Michael DePinto, a graduate of Capital University Law School, and an attorney in Florida. Having worked in the World Trade Center, along with other family and friends, Michael was baptized by fire into the world of politics on September 11, 2001. Michael’s political journey began with tuning in religiously to whatever the talking heads on television had to say, then Michael became a “Tea-Bagging” activist as his liberal friends on the Left would say, volunteering within the Jacksonville local Tea Party, and most recently Michael was sworn in as an attorney. Today, Michael is a major contributor to www.BeforeItsNews.com, he owns and operates www.thelastgreatstand.com, where Michael provides what is often very ‘colorful’ political commentary, ripe with sarcasm, no doubt the result of Michael’s frustration as he feels we are witnessing the end of the American Empire. The topics Michael most often weighs in on are: Martial Law, FEMA Camps, Jade Helm, Economic Issues, Government Corruption, and Government Conspiracy.
