Along with endless US wars of aggression and bullying other nations to bow to its will or else, Trump’s JCPOA withdrawal reflected how US imperial arrogance and hubris operate.
RT explained that he erased nine long arduous years of nuclear talks with a stroke of his pen – the five permanent Security Council member states plus Germany involved in dealing with Iran to consummate the JCPOA.
Egged on by Iranophobe Netanyahu and neocons infesting his administration, Trump likely killed the deal altogether – saving it unattainable if EU and other countries observe US imposed sanctions, what certain unless proved otherwise.
Expecting EU and other countries supporting Washington’s imperial agenda to challenge it now is foolhardy thinking.
Iran understands. IAEA director general Yukia Amano’s supportive Wednesday statement won’t help, saying the Islamic Republic “is subject to the world’s most robust nuclear verification regime under the JCPOA, which is a significant verification gain. As of today, the IAEA can confirm that the nuclear-related commitments are being (fully) implemented by Iran.”
On Wednesday, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei denounced Trump’s JCPOA withdrawal, saying “(l)ast night you heard that the US president made silly and superficial remarks.”
“There were maybe more than 10 lies in his comments. He threatened both the establishment and the nation, saying he will do this and that.”
“Mr. Trump I tell you on behalf of the Iranian nation: You are making a damn mistake,” adding:
“We accepted the JCPOA, but enmities with the Islamic Republic did not end. Now they raise the issue of our presence in the region and the issue of missiles. If we accept them too, they will bring up another issue.”
“The reason for US opposition to the establishment is that the US used to completely dominate (Iran) but the (Islamic) Revolution cut off their hands” from the country.
Khamenei stressed Iran doesn’t trust Britain, France and Germany. “Without receiving a strong guarantee from these three European countries, we won’t stick to the nuclear agreement” – meaning assurance they and their enterprises reject US sanctions, what’s nearly certain not to be gotten.
Iran’s parliament speaker Ali Larijani also blasted Trump, saying he “does not have the mental capacity to deal with issues.”
“Trump’s abandoning of the nuclear deal was a diplomatic show…Iran has no obligation to honor its commitments under the current situation. It is obvious that Trump only understands the language of force.”
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said his Foreign Ministry will negotiate with the remaining P4+1 countries.
“If we achieve the deal’s goals in cooperation with other members of the deal, it will remain in place,” he said, indicating otherwise Tehran will have to acknowledge its demise and pull out, what’s most likely.
As long as Iran refuses to bow to Washington’s will like EU countries and most others, it’ll be targeted for regime change by political, economic, and/or military means – its longstanding cross to bear, the price for its sovereign independence.
The same goes for all other sovereign independent countries, notably Russia, China, North Korea, Venezuela and Syria – all on Washington’s target list.
