Israel is behind the coup in Egypt that toppled President Mohamed Morsi and there are documents to prove it, said Tuesday  the Prime Minister of Turkey, Tayyip Erdogan.

“Behind the coup that started on July 3 in Egypt is Israel. We have the documents,” said Erdogan during a speech to the regional leaders of his party, the Islamist Justice and Development Party (AKP).

He did not detail the nature of these documents, but supported his claim with a comment from 2011, which he attributed to a “French intellectual Jew”. According to Erdogan the man’s quote was: “While the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt wins elections, they can not govern, because democracy is not only the polls.”

Erdogan devoted much of his speech to criticize the repression in Egypt and the “dictatorial” regime of General Abdel Fatah al-Sisi, while regretting the lukewarm attitude of many Islamic countries regarding the dismissal of Morsi.

On Sunday, Erdogan described the repression of the demonstrations in Egypt as “state terrorism” and said there was no difference between the regimes in Cairo and Damascus.

“Let the world hear: temples are inviolable. But both in Syria and in Egypt they burn and destroy mosques. There is no difference between Bashar al-Assad and Abdel Fatah al Sisi,” he insisted. “Nor is there difference between those who support one or the other,” said Erdogan later at another rally.

Moreover, the Prime Minister today called on his supporters to organize for the upcoming local elections, scheduled for March, took stock of the 12-year rule of AKP and said his party has a plan for “thousands of years”.

“Twelve years is not much for a game, but the action of our movement is not twelve years: ours is clearly a game of thousands of years,” he said.

The next three important dates for, concluded Erdogan, will be 2023,” which is the centennial of the Turkish Republic, 2053, when Turkish will celebrate 600 years after the capture of Constantinople by the Ottomans and 2071, a celebration of the millennium of the Battle of Manzikert, the Byzantine Empire’s defeat against the Seljuks.
